Edinburgh Interactive 2009

I will start with a quote from the Edinburgh Interactive 2009 website - http://www.edinburghinteractivefestival.com/

"Welcome to the Edinburgh Interactive Festival 2009! The spirit of Edinburgh Interactive springs from the genuine passion for celebrating the creative aspects of games, technology, interactivity and community to enhance the enjoyment of learning and leisure. This year’s programme will entertain and excite as well as feed your aspirations."

With that said when I found out about EI 09, I was very excited. Hoping it would be packed full of great tech, people who knew what they were talking about & maybe some cool free stuff that anybody would be expecting from such an event.

I got two free tickets from Gamestation two weeks ago. I thought me & my older brother could go and enjoy the games & technology. It has arrived the day of the event, we get in the car and drive down to the Corn Exchange where it was being held. We walked in handed over our tickets & saw a giant inflatable samurai (I think that's what it was). Walked to our right through double doors & into the room. A huge room, in the middle was Wii Resort to its right a small area for Guitar Hero & to its left on the Main Stage was Eyepet for the PS3. Straight ahead pressed up against the wall were a bunch of X-Box 360's (only two games available to try). To our immediate left along the wall were two tables with laptops on them showing games.

Now i love games, its great to see people playing games and enjoying themselves. It just seems that they could have done alot more with the space available. Nintendo had the biggest area, they had so called Wii experts on hand to help people. Nintendo also had a steel band & ice creams but didn't really capture the imagination.

Sony had the main stage showing Eyepet on what seemed like a loop. It was from what i could gather one maybe two people from Sony, no real opportunity to talk to them if you wanted a conversation.

X-Box had a bank of about 20 consoles, allowing people to play 2 games Batman: Arkham Asylum (which i am very excited about) & Mini Ninjas (not sure what it is). I saw one guy from X-Box again same scenario would apply with them as I mentioned about Sony.

On a sidenote if your a member of the public and want to listen to the speeches, you have to register and pay £100. Do they realise there is a recession or did that bypass EI 09.

In conclusion you can spend about an hour maybe two their and see everything. Go home and think why was I so excited about that. A BIG let down.

The Greatest Radio Show On The Planet

WMMR'S PRESTON & STEVE

"I Just Got Out The Shower" & "But, they were Hot Lesbo's"

In August 2006 I was searching on iTunes to find funny podcasts. I came upon this show Preston & Steve. Not knowing what kind of comedy it was I had no idea what to expect.

I listened to the show then listened to a few more & now it has been 3 years & I love the show more than ever. The show melds pop culture, everyday discussions & rock music into a brilliant show.

The show is full of film & TV clips. Also there are lots of clips & quotes that the show has produced itself. I love the edgy comedy which is brilliantly done. The show also deals the sensitive stories with the gravitas they deserve. The show is alot of talking & the occasional song but it works to a create a wonderful & entertaining show.

They have a whole host of regular guests and they introduced possibly the greatest thing on earth the Budlight Hottie Cam (GENIUS).

The show also gives back alot to the community with events such as Campout For Hunger & also the now legendary Drunk Day which is a PSA for not drinking too much.

I love this radio show. I now listen live to the show on my iPhone with the WMMR app & I continue to download the podcasts. This show makes you laugh out loud, ask yourself why & help you rock out.

The show does not discriminate, it lets you in and feel like part of the family. If you think you the show will be centered around Philly its not. Don't have any misconceptions there's a lot of Philly but not too much that you feel left out in the cold.
I would tell you my favourite parts of the show but that would make this blog last for ever.

Let me introduce you to the movers & shakers on the show -

Preston Elliott aka Kenny Knight -He is the main voice of the show. Loves Amy Grant & eating scabs. Plays the drums & he also used to be in a band.

Steve Morrison - Former stand-up comedian & sci-fi fanatic. Steve is the co-host & knows almost every obscure person ever.

Casey Foster - Exec producer & Phish fan. His "Beer Credits utopia" is a constant source of material for the show. CaseyBoy as he is also known as pipes in with witticisms when he feels the show needs it.

Nick McIlwain - Producer & Web Guru. He is constantly jibbed about being gay where in reality he is married with a son. Nick is an eating machine & also he is always in the gym.

Kathy Romano - Traffic & News whiz - She hydrates her boobs & has the perfect vagina. Former cheerleader & popular person at school. Shes not totally self obsessed.

Marisa Magnatta - Associate producer & Serial goer-outer. The resident veggie on the show & also she is a tee-totaler. She is also great friends with Moses Malone.
