Greece never turned up as South Korea deservedly took all three points in this one. The Koreans had more chances to score more but could only manage two. The opening goal was from a free kick that was whipped into the box. The Greek defenders nowhere to be seen Lee pounced at the far post to steer the ball into the net. So that was the Koreans one up within ten minutes. They continued to put pressure on the Greeks & easily cut through their defence having chances to score more.
Seven minutes into the second half & a lack of concentration from Greece's Vyntra allowed Ji-Sung Park to steal in, run on goal & slip it past the keeper for two nil. That's how the game ended. South Korea could & probably should have made it more. Greece need to improve drastically if they are to stay in World Cup.
Argentina 1 (Heinze 6) Nigeria 0
A flying header from Gabriel Heinze put Argentina ahead from a Juan Sebastien Veron corner. Nigeria were on the back foot for alot of this match as Argentina played some lovely passing football. Helping them carve open the Super Eagles on numerous occasions but Enyeama was equal to it all. Nigeria had their chances to sneak a draw. Their best chance falling to Uche who decided to go with the first time shot not knowing he had time and space to take a touch.
For all Argentina's good play they only won by one goal & their defence does not look the tightest & could be undone by a better side. As for Nigeria they are another team that need to step it up for the next game.
England (Gerrard 4) USA (Dempsey 40)
England went ahead early on with a Steven Gerrard goal. The ball played to him from Heskey, the Liverpool man took a touch & slotted the ball past Tim Howard in the US goal. Clint Dempsey put the Yanks on level terms five minutes before half time. A speculative effort from outside the box that Green couldn't handle and 1-1. Both sides had chances to win it but overall a fair result as no team outclassed the other.
