Argentina dominated the first half. The scoring started in the 16th minute with wonderfully whipped freekick in from Lionel Messi which struck Park Chu-Young and flew past the Korean keeper. Argentina continued to play good football. Tevez's hard work earned a freekick for the Argentinians. A short freekick played between Messi & Mascherano led to the latter clipping the play into the box a flick on from Burdisso, the first half substitute for Samuel, came to Higuain free at the back post to header into the net. As the game looked to be heading to half time 2-0 to Argentina. A defensive lapse from Demichelis allowed Lee Chung-Young to steal and clip the ball over Romero into the net. It finished 2-1 at half time. In the 2nd half South Korea started to press the jabulani and hurry the Argentine's into making mistakes. Their best chance came from. Argentina restored their two goal lead through Higuain on 76 minutes, who tapped he ball home from close range after Sergio Aguero put Messi through who had his first shot saved then his follow up hit the post the fell invitingly for Higuain to put them 3-1 ahead. Then a lovely counter attack from the Argies led to Messi playing a wonderful ball out wide to Aguero who hit a delightful first time cross which Higuain met with his head and put it back across goal, into the side netting that made it 4-1. It's the first hat trick of the World Cup since 2002. That's how it finished, Argentina go clear at the top of the group with 6 points.
Greece 2 (Salpingidis 44, Torosidis 71) Nigeria 1 (Uche 16, Kaita Sent Off 33)
Uche delivered a freekick into the area which passed everyone including the goalkeeper and ending up in the net. With Nigeria in complete control Kaita raised his foot for no reason against Torosidis and stupidly got himself sent off. Greece came more into the game and just before half time equalised. Salpingidis struck the jabulani with violence and it struck off Haruna. Ending up in the net with the goalkeeper not being able to do anything about it. After the break Greece were sitting back and not really attacking the Nigerian's as they should have been. Tziolis hit a shot, Enyeama spilled it and Torosidis slid in to put the Greeks 2-1 up. Before they went ahead Nigeria had a chance on the counter attack. Yakubu's shot was saved by Tzorvas then Obasi put his meek effort wide.
Greece must avoid defeat against Argentina to stand a chance of getting through to the next round. Nigeria must beat South Korea and hope Argentina beat Greece to have a glimmer of hope of getting through to the next stage.
France 0 Mexico 2 (Hernandez 64, Blanco pen 79)
Mexico were the better side through out. France never looked like they were a team & they lacked team spirit or ethic. Mexico took the lead in the second half on 64 and deservedly so. Hernandez broke the offside trap thanks to a Marquez ball over the top. He was clear on goal, rounded the keeper and put the jabulani into the net. Barrera went past Evra with ease then ran into the box. All Abidal could do was bring him down, the penalty was given. Blanco stepped up and side footed the ball past Lloris. That was that, France defeated and hanging on by a thread. Mexico were very good and could have scored more.
