I remember when I got this book. My uncle and I went to Safeway ( Now Morrison's) to get some stuff for the house. I saw the book and I asked if I could get it. At the time I was obsessed, in love consumed by the Simpson's phenomenon. My brother and I would watch the show every weekday at 6pm on sky one and the new episodes on Sunday's at the same time on the same channel. I used to watch the Simpson's some much that I knew the lines and when there were breaks in the show.
Like any book it is broken down into chapters but unlike other books this touches on key things in life such as science, religion, art & culture, language & communication. Also the obvious for a guide to life with the likes of food, school, parents and sex among other topics covered,
Why do I love this book apart it being a Simpson's based book. It was aimed boys around my age at the time. The book includes all the other Simpson's so you don't miss out on them. While aimed at kids it does have things in it that would be more often than not found in adult books such as 3 types of brain and a heaven vs hell debate.
The book is done in Matt Groening's fantastic tongue in cheek style. Intelligent bright people will find it fun, witty and intriguing. Where as uptight people will take it literally and take to the streets burning piles of it.
In a recent audio book that the Gervais, Merchant and Pilkington trio put out. Karl was asked to think up the best animal he could, this book does that but uses the title "The Ultimate Dream Pet".
The also cut close on some issues such as religion. But overall this book is fantastic, filled with over the top ideas and intelligent points. It is great for kids who are inquisitive and like to learn.
I have read this book about 3 or 4 times maybe more. I wish they had updated a few years along the line would have been good to see what else they could have come up with.
So in summary great book for kids and Simpson's fans alike. Note if you are really easily offended by questions about religion don't read this book. My first and probably favourite book. This book is STEAK SAUCE.
